Today is the first day you have lived today.  Its not yesterday and its not tomorrow yet so what should you know about the qualities of today?  There are 3 things to remember:

1. There is a beginning and an end to a day.  I know that when I was the most sick with my eye everyday ran into each other for Yolanda and I.  Take some time today and thank God that you were able to get up, at the beginning of the day, and go to bed tonight, at the end of the day.  Even if you can’t thank him for anything else then you can thank him for breathing today.

2. You have a choice to make any day great or crappy.  I have always said that, “happiness is a decision and not a condition”.  When you choose to let the circumstances of the day cause worry or pain in your mind you have just ruined that day and, on top of that, not made the situation any better.  Don’t let the devil steal your today by worrying about tomorrow.

3.  The time in a day is a great commodity.  Even money cannot buy another hour in the day.  We are all given the same amount of time each day to give to the things we feel are most important.  If that is work, then we will probably be workaholics.  If its family, we will spend a lot of our time on family.  What ever you spend the most time on during a day will be a reflection of what you love.  God needs us to not just “have time for him” but to find time for him as well.  I know that with all the things I have going on in my life its hard to just have time for God.  I need to find it and place it in a strategic place so I can get the most out of my time with him.

If I could give one thing to someone who I know is going through a difficult time right now is that the pain and crap you are going through is not one long continuous crappy day.  I just had a conversation with a friend who is dealing with a whole lot more than what I dealt with concerning my eye and she said that the key for her is taking it one day at a time.  I totally agree with that statement and please don’t forget something else very important; make your pain matter in someone else’s life.  Have empathy when you hear of someones struggles, paitence when people who have pain get angry for no apparent reason and pray for them because you can understand possibly better than anyone how to lift them up in prayer.  Make today great!!
